Blogging for Your Business

You want people to find your website through different routes. Existing customers already know your website and brand name, but what about new potential customers? You need to think about different ways you can expand your reach to a new audience. By providing the correct content for your target audience you can reach new people on a bigger scale with consistent blogging.

In this blog post, we’ll be sharing reasons why writing a blog should be an important part of your marketing strategy, and also some tips on making the most out of your blog content on social media.

 What is Blogging?

Blogging is a large piece of informative words on a word document or a website. I know what you’re thinking, sounds boring right?

Wrong! Blogging can be what you want it to be. Got top tips for your customers? List them in a blog! Has something happened in the world that affects your customers? Let them know. The key here is not to write with you in mind, but rather the problems your target audience face, and how you can help them.

You can even get creative with the delivery. If you’re no good at writing blogs, you can make video blogs (vlogs) instead. Writing blogs can be about anything to do with your business, your thoughts on certain matters that may affect or changes within your industry. Doesn’t have to be directly written about your business as long as it’s relevant.

Reasons to Blog

There are lots of reasons to keep updating your website with fresh blog content:

  • Regularly updating your website with fresh content is great for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) – Get those keywords about your business all over your website!

  • Blogs provide great content to post on social media – rather than repeating “here’s a link to our website” you can tell people all about the really informative, helpful article you’ve just written.

  • Blogs build trust – Readers can see you have industry knowledge and that you would be able to help them when the time comes.

  • Adds personality – Showcase new team members, new offers, and anything else happening in your world. People buy from people, so the more welcoming you appear, the better chance you’ve got of converting a lead

Does Blogging Really Work?

Blogging takes time. To upload interesting, educational material on a regular basis means a lot of time spent researching, planning, and of course writing. It’s no guarantee or magic potion that will transform your business, but it does guarantee consistent content as you can keep uploading your blog to different social media platforms.

Blogging can definitely make your brand seem more real and have a personal approach when directed at your target audience. The more engaging it is, the more times it could be shared on social media and increase your business visibility to a load of new people.

TOP TIP: Make sure your blog posts have a share button so that existing customers can share your content to a wider audience.

Making Most out of One Piece of Content

One new blog post doesn’t mean just one social media post. You could just tweet, “Read our latest blog” and leave it at that. But if there’s so much useful content in your blogs, you want to make sure you post about it multiple times on social media.

Here’s some tips to creating multiple tweets from one blog:

  •  Use the title (it usually describes what’s in the blog pretty well)

  •   Use the first line/paragraph (this is usually a continuation of the title, but said in a different way)

  • Use a quote – We find that the more ambiguous the better, it might entice somebody to click a link if the quote says “This changed my life…” rather than “our new product is now available”

  • Use statistics – if the blog itself has a list of bullet points or statistics, spread them out over a series of tweets.

  • Is Blogging Worth It?

You’re probably thinking why a simple thing such as blogging really matters. Let’s answer that!

Blogging can increase your online exposure and it’s affordable, quick, and reusable. It’s more organic and believable than advertising. So write about your business or share a few tips. Blogging creates a personal bond between you and the reader as it feels more personal and gives your business a personality that you can make shine through blogging.

Blog content is reusable and has no limit to how much you repost or reshare it (unless it is Christmas day, for example, then you should probably only use it at Christmas time!) Once uploaded, your blog is online forever and it generates long-term results. As mentioned above you can repost the blog forever on social media (well, as long as  it stays relevant to your business)

Blogging constantly will make search engines love you! Search engines such as Google, Bing, and Yahoo enjoy fresh, relevant content. This is the perfect time for businesses to use relevant keywords that customers will use to search for a specific item or service.

Writing a blog that contains information or advice that can answer common questions asked by your existing customers can make you seem indispensable. You’re showing that you take customer’s feedback or question seriously and you want to help customers as much as possible which is appealing to new customers and readers.

    Should I write a blog?

Blogging for your business can become essential for your marketing strategy and building your online exposure. With blogging, you and your business can enjoy the benefits of great content marketing and you are able to write a blog as many times as you like or every 2 weeks if you are busy with other business priorities.

“I don’t have time to write a blog”

We get it. Lots of business owners have their job to do without worrying about creating useful content for a website or social media. That’s where we come in!
